A realistic world, down to the last detail.
A civilization game that aims to be fully realistic, rich in every detail, without overwhelming you with decisions. Winning a war doesn't end the story: your civilization goes on.
The Long Reign is a 3D civilization game. What defines it isn't a list of features but an aim: a fully realistic world, rich in every detail, that never turns each detail into a decision for the player. Every building rises piece by piece, with villagers hauling each beam and each stone. Research is done by schoolchildren sitting at their desks, and technology shows up on the map: baskets, wheelbarrows, carts, tools, armor. Buildings evolve through five tiers, from wattle and thatch to brick and stone, and roads form on their own as people come and go. The world has its own weather and seasons, day and night, wind, and real sound instead of music. Its resources are those of a real world: trees, food, stone, gold and crystal. And the final ambition is for that world to be the whole planet.
Realistic, never overwhelming
The world takes care of the small things and you take care of what matters.
Every building rises with villagers hauling each beam and each stone. It doesn't pop in: you watch it go up.
A full weather system and seasons that pass. Day and night, wind, lanterns lit at dusk and banners in the breeze.
Trees, food, stone, gold and crystal. What your people need comes from the world itself.
Science is done by schoolchildren at their desks, and every advance shows up on the map: baskets, wheelbarrows, carts, tools, armor.
Five tiers: wattle and thatch, half-timber, stone, gothic, and brick and stone. Your village grows over time.
Routes appear between buildings and pave themselves as people walk them. You don't have to draw them.
The aim is for the world to be the whole planet. Its final size isn't decided yet.
A won war isn't the end. Your civilization goes on, and waits for you exactly where you left it.
Roadmap
The core of the game: villagers who build piece by piece, five building tiers, visible research, weather, seasons, day and night, and its resources: trees, food, stone, gold and crystal.
More detail in every system without adding decisions for the player. A world that behaves like a real one and is still simple to play.
Growing the world toward the final aim: the whole planet.
Where it will be played isn't decided yet. It will be announced in the devlogs.
The Book of the Realm
The realm, told in scenes from the game. The Prologue, The Caravan, sets the scene; then How to Play guides you chapter by chapter. Chapter I, First Steps, is open; the rest are coming soon.
